Disney is celebrating it's 25th anniversary of Walt Disney World all over the parks. Walt Disney World originally opened with just the Magic Kingdom on Oct. 1, 1971. Formal dedication followed on Oct. 25, 1971. EPCOT opened Oct. 1, 1982 followed by Disney MGM Studios May 1, 1989. Some of the special events occuring are a decorated Cinderella's castle with fireworks behind the castle every night, a special 25th anniversary parade at the MK, special 25th anniversary Illuminations fireworks at EPCOT, and much more. | |

Pictured to the left is Disney's new Boardwalk resort. Here you will find upscale accomodations, restaurants, and even a brewpub. Nice place to spend the evening for dinner, more subdued than Pleasure Island. |

I stayed at Dixie Landings this trip (I've stayed there twice previously). It is moderately priced and a great place to stay with or without kids. It is a large complex with a lot of units but very spread out. The theme is southern bayou and southern plantation. There is a theme pool with slide, restaurant, food court, large playground, and lots of activities like boating, bike riding, and even fishing. |
